Local programs are avaialble to work with victims of crime.
April 22-28th is National Crime Victims Rights Week. The Fayette County Victim Witness Program is trying to make people more aware of how they work with victims of crime.
The program helped over 1,800 people last year and 260 victims of crime were assisted with protection orders. Last year, almost 19 million crimes were committed in the nation. and not all of Ohio's counties had a place for victims to seek help.
The group also works with Miami Trace High School to teach students about the ten types of violence, teen dating violence and sexual abuse.
