US 62 Crash

The Wednesday traffic accident involved three vehicles.

Three vehicles were involved in a Route 62 traffic accident, Wednesday afternoon. The Fayette County Sheriff reports 51-year-old Valerie S. Stuckey, of Leesburg, was traveling northbound on US 62 south near Greenfield-Sabina Road. She was stopped and waiting to make a left hand turn into a farm lane.

20-year-old Christopher L. Cox, of Leesburg, was stopped behind Stuckey.

A third vehicle operated 84-year-old by David C. Long, of Hillsboro, was northbound on US 62 south when he failed to maintain assure clear distance, swerved to avoid a collision with Cox's vehicle, but hit the left rear of it. Long’s vehicle continued into the southbound lane of travel striking Stuckey's vehicle, which had began her left hand turn. Both Long's and Stuckey's vehicles ended up in the ditch.

Stuckey was injured and taken by squad to Fayette Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. Long was cited.
