Herb has been in the broadcasting industry since 1974, beginning at Clermont Northeastern High School's 1,000-watt FM station WCNE-FM (now WOBO-FM) in Clermont County. Since those days, Day has served in virtually every capacity from on-the-air to radio station ownership. He has been on the air in Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus and a few markets in between. Not only does he serve as host to Buckeye Country's morning show, but he also works with clients daily in the Sales/Marketing Department. Herb is also a singer/musician/songwriter, and has had the priviledge to open concerts for major Nashville acts through the years. He also is a recording artist with his latest project being one containing all material he has written entitled "Hard-Times". When Herb isn't working he.....well....let's be honest. Herb is ALWAYS working!
The SCOL season heads into its final three weeks of action with at least three teams still in the playoff hunt & several schools trying to move up not only in the computer rankings but in the league standings.
CLINTON MASSIE (6-1/3-0) AT WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE (4-3/2-1)
Most folks know by now that Clinton-Massie started their current 35 game SCOL winning streak after losing at Gardner Park 35-34 in week 8 of the 2007 season. That year the SCOL ended in a three way tie with the Falcons, Blue Lions & Miami Trace Panthers all getting a piece of the championship with 1 loss apiece. Since then Clinton-Massie has won the SCOL title outright the last 5 years. Also since that defeat Clinton-Massie has outscored Washington 273-28 including three shutouts.
Last year Clinton-Massie led 35-0 after the 1st quarter running only 13 plays & had a 70-0 halftime lead. Bayle Wolf had 164 yards & three TDs in the half.
Washington hurt themselves committing 4 first half turnovers that Massie converted into 28 points. Tye Smith in that contest was held to 46 yards & Washington only had 2 yards passing in the contest.
Both will be coming into this Friday contest after recording wins last week. The Falcons defeated Chillicothe 17-7 while Washington defeated Greenfield McClain on the road.
MIAMI TRACE (5-2/2-1) AT GREENFIELD MCCLAIN (3-4/0-4)
Miami Trace has dominated this series winning 9 of the last 10 meetings between the schools including last year's 49-8 win at Panther Stadium. The only Tiger win in that stretch was in 2010 by a 28-21 score.
Last year the Panthers rushed for 227 of their 402 yards with Jimmy Stroker scoring twice on the ground & throwing for another.
McClain had 123 yards in that contest but 52 of those came on a 4th quarter run by Zach Puckett.
Miami Trace enters the contest coming off last week loss to state ranked Bishop Ready while McClain lost to Washington CH was the squad 4th straight loss after starting the season at 3-0.
HILLSBORO (1-6/0-3) AT CHILLICOTHE (6-1/3-1)
Its hard to believe but these two schools met for the first time in 1899. Cavs have dominated winning 17 of their 21 meetings between the 2 schools including a 54-11 win in 2011.
Chillicothe is coming off their 1st loss of the season losing at Clinton-Massie 17-7 last week. Hillsboro is looking for their 1st SCOL win in almost 2 years are coming off a loss at East Clinton.
DAYTON MEADOWDALE (4-3) AT EAST CLINTON (3-4/2-2)
We believe this may be the first time these two schools have met. Meadowdale did play against Madison Plains in 2010 & 11 losing by a 20-18 & 6-0 score when the Golden Eagles was a member of the SCOL.
Meadowdale is a member of the Dayton City League losing big to Dayton C-J, Thurgood Marshall & Dayton Carroll. Top players include Tyree Toney who has caught about 8 TDs from 4 different players. CJ Williams & Raleigh Thornton are a few other players that have added to the scoring attack of the Lions.
Astros are led by the pass/catch attack of Dalton Floyd & Clyde Snow but they at least scoring wise were a little quiet last week in the Astros win over Hillsboro. Jesse Livingstone scored twice as the Astros move to within a win of going 500 for the season.
