The Hillsboro Board of Education has hired a new varsity football coach Wednesday, according to Superintendent Rick Early.
Matt Hodge, who has been the varsity football coach at East Clinton the last seven years, replaces Brian Spicer, whose contract wasn't renewed after last season.
Spicer was (12-28) in his four years at Hillsboro and has since been hired as the varsity coach at Westfall High School.
Hodge was (38-34) with the Astros program and led them to four straight league titles in the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference, along with two playoff appearances.
Last year East Clinton in their first year the SCOL went (3-7) overall. He will also serves as a special education teacher in the Hillsboro Middle School.
