CHICAGO (AP) — DeShaun Thomas scored 17 points and No. 10 Ohio State used its stout defense to beat No. 22 Wisconsin 50-43 on Sunday for the Big Ten tournament title.
Thomas was 6 for 19 from the field, but made some big free throws down the stretch to lead the Buckeyes to their fifth tournament title in nine appearances. Aaron Craft had nine points and six rebounds, and LaQuinton Ross also delivered a couple of huge plays for Ohio State (26-7).
Traevon Jackson scored 10 points for the Badgers (23-11), who shot 38.3 percent from the field.
The Big 10 Tournament Championship helped Ohio State grab a #2 seed in the NCAA Tournament West Regional, where they play Friday against #15 seed Iona.
Other Ohio teams to get into the Dance are the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Midwest Regional against Creighton on Friday, and MAC Champ Akron heads to the South Regional Thursday vs VCU.
