Fayette County will have at least 5 representatives traveling Thursday to the Ohio State University to participate in the OHSAA State Wrestling Championships.
A total of 11 wrestlers qualified from 7 of the SCOL schools with additional 4 wrestlers finishing 5th at area district meets which means they would get to wrestle if one of the top 4 wrestlers in their weight class from the district meet couldn't wrestle at the state event.
Washington CH will have three wrestlers in Kole Trigg at 120lbs, Cameron Shaw at 195, and Jimmy Van Dyke at 152.
Miami Trace finished 5th in the team scoring qualfied 2 wrestlers & have another two as alternates.
Hayden Bottorff won the district title at 285 & returns to the state meet. Trent Duffy placed third at 113 and will also wrestle at state.
Finishing in 5th place & serving as alternates in case someone can't wrestle was Bryson Laytart at 120 pounds & Travis Grooms at 160 piunds. Laytart qualified last year for the state meet.
Other SCOL wrestlers that qualified from the Goshen District was:
Hillsboro---Brandon Carter finished 3rd at 106 & is making a return trip to the state meet. Kordell Ford who finished 4th at state last year finished 3rd at the Goshen District & returns for this weekend action.
Clinton-Massie---Wyatt Running will return to the state meet after finishing as runner-up in the 170 pound weight class. He was 6th at last year state meet. Falcons Davey Tunon was 5th at 138 & will be an alternate at the state meet.
Greenfield---Brandon Davis qualifies at 220 pounds. He is the first McClain wrestler to go to state since Caleb Cooper in 2010.
Also:
London--Owen Shoemaker qualified after finishing 3rd at 160 pounds at the Heath Division 2 Districts. He is the 4th different Red Raider wrestler to qualify in the last 4 years.
Madison Plains-Division 3---Tim Violet was 4th at 132 pounds & Jake Datz at 160 pounds was 5th & is an alternate.
