Two of the top three teams in the SCOL standings lose.
EAST CLINTON 55, CLINTON-MASSIE 51
East Clinton trailed 51-48 with 1:40 left in their game Saturday night against Clinton-Massie. But the Astros found a way to scored the last 7 points of the game & went on to hand the Falcons their 1st SCOL loss of the season.
This was the third time the two schools had played this season. They meet in late December at the Clinton County Holiday Tournament & Massie hit a three pointer at the end of the game to win & then this past Tuesday Massie won again in SCOL action.
Dalton Floyd led the Astros scoring 15 points & pulling down 14 rebounds. It was the 3rd time in his last 5 games that he has recorded a double-double contest. Tyler Lewis added 15 points & Hayden Kinsley had 8 points & 12 rebounds.
Clinton-Massie was led by Tyler Uetrecht who had 24 points in the contest but was held scoreless in the 4th period. Trent Smart added 10 points for the Falcons.
East Clinton was 11 of 17 at the free throw line while C-M was only 3 of 7.
C-M (11-3 overall/8-1 in the SCOL) will host Washington CH Tuesday night. The Blue Lions are 7-2, a game behind C-M with 5 league games left including two meetings between the schools.
LONDON 72, MIAMI TRACE 58
London who has lost 8 of their 10 games this season by 8 points or less jumped out to a 7 point halftime lead Saturday night against Miami Trace & held on to pick up a big win for their team.
Red Raiders had 4 players in double figures with Kyle Fisher scoring 15 points & he had help with Brok Bennett, Zac Carey & Sully Mineer scoring 14 points each. Seth Roberts just missed the double figure mark finishing with 9 points.
Miami Trace goes to 5-2 for month of January & was outscored at the free throw line by a 16-8 margin & though they had the same number of field goals as London the Red Raiders hit four 3s while Panthers had only 2. Add up the difference & that leads to London 14 point win.
Miami Trace (11-5 overall/6-4 SCOL) was led by Cedric Pettiford with 15 points & Blake Baldwin with 11.
Miami Trace travels to Madison Plains Tuesday night in a battle for 3rd place in the SCOL. Game scheduled to air on Buckeye Country & I Heart Radio.
London (6-10/4-6 SCOL) will host Hillsboro.
LEESBURG FAIRFIELD 44, HILLSBORO 38
The Indians drop to 6-10 overall/2-8 SCOL. Hillsboro will be at London Tuesday night.
