Washington CH tops Madison Plains 48-44 on Friday

The Washington Court House Blue Lions captured their 11th win in a row taking the lead for the first time in the game with under 2 minutes left & clinched it with outstanding free throw shooting.

Golden Eagles led 23-14 at halftime as they shot 50% from the field. Washington though came out of the locker room & went on a 5-0 run toi get back into the contest.

Madison Plains were able to bump the lead back to a 7 point margin at the end of the 3rd quarter (35-28) thanks in part to 5-0 run after a foul & techincal was called on the Blue Lions.

Washington slowly got back in the contest in the final 5 minutes of the game thanks in part to going 8 of 9 at the charity stripe that gave them their first lead with 1:43 left in the game & help them outscore the Golden Eagles 20-8 in the final quarter.

Washington was led by Conner Eckles with 20 points & Derek Shaw with 15. Tyler Sloane had 6 of his 8 points during the 4h quarter comeback.

Madison Plains was led by Stephen Liemuiex with 15 points & Brooke Carter had 12 points.

Washington was 14 of 16 at the charity stripe including 11 of 12 in the final period.

Madison Plains finished 13 of 22 from the free throw line.

Blue Lions had 18 turnovers & Madison Plains had 23.

Washington is now 11-3 overall & 6-1 SCOL while Madison Plains drops to 7-6 overall & 4-4 in the SCOL.

Next game for the teams will find Washington CH at Miami Trace Tuesday night & Madison Plains at London also on Tuesday night.

Elsewhere, Miami Trace topped Greenfield McClain 49-43.

Miami Trace led only 7-2 after the 1st quarter but slowly open up a bigger lead in the 2nd period & held on as the Tigers outscored the Panthers 24-15 in the final period & won at Greenfield Friday night.

Panthers (10-4 overall/5-3 SCOL) was led by three players in double figures.

Blake Baldwin had 16 points, Cedric Pettiford with 15 & Marcel Pettiford added 11 points.

McClain (5-10/1-7) has lost 4 of their last 5 games.

Brent Shannon led the Tigers with 13 points, Thomas Schrader with 9 & Ryan Faulconer was held to 8 points.

Miami Trace will host Washington CH next Tuesday night with reports being called in during the McClain -Hillsboro boys basketball broadcast on Buckeye Country Radio & I Heart Radio..
