The big match up between the top two teams in SCOL girls basketball standings was held Wednesday night at the Panther Pit at Miami Trace High School as the Lady Panthers played host to the Clinton-Massie Lady Falcons.
CLINTON-MASSIE 54, MIAMI TRACE 49 (OT)
Miami Trace hit back to back threes to open up the contest & had leads of 6-0 & 8-2 in the early moments of the contest before Clinton-Massie slowly started to get themselves back in the game to trail only 10-9 after the first quarter.
Massie who dominated the offensive boards starting in the 2nd quarter slowly forced Miami Trace in bad shot selection & took a 25-21 lead at the half.
The contest went back & forth in the second half & at the end of regulation the game was tied at 46 each.
Massie outscored Trace 8-3 in the extra period & moved to 7-0 in the SCOL race & 11-2 overall.
Massie didn't shot well as unofficially they hit 31% from the field (including 1 of 6 on three point shots) but was 15 of 20 at the charity line.
Miami Trace meanwhile shot 32% from the field but kept themselves in the game by hitting 7 of 16 from the three point arch. Lady Panthers only got to the foul line 8 times in the game but made 6 of them.
The boards tell the story as Massie out rebounded the Panthers unofficially 47-24 including 24 offensive rebounds.
Tyler Uetrecht led the Lady Falcons with 16 points & Erin Fair coming off the bench had 13 points & 12 rebounds.
For Miami Trace (6-1 & 10-3 overall) Ashley Henry led the scoring with 15 points & Arianna Mabra with 11 points.
Clinton-Massie will play this Saturday at Hillsboro while Miami Trace will host Greenfield McClain.
