Washington Court House who last year won the GMVWA tournament overall & the small school division titles return to Wright State University Nutter Center Friday & Saturday to participate in the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association Tournament.
There are a total of 52 schools (26 Division 1 & 26 in Division 2 & 3) that will compete over the 2 day tournament that gives area fans a good preview of potential state qualifiers at about halfway point of the season.
Last year Washington won with 146.5 points & Centerville was 2nd & winner of the big school division with 130 points.
Blue Lions had a 1st place (Riley Shaw-heavyweight), Cameron Shaw (3td at 195), Jerome Pettiford (4th 220) & Kole Trigg (6th 120) place at the event. Cameron & Kole are scheduled to wrestle again in this year tournament.
Area schools also involved includes: Wilmington, Jamestown Greeneview & Waynesville.
Miami Trace wrestlers head to the two day long West Jefferson Invitational. The Panthers who placed 25th at last year GMVWA tournament will see fellow SCOL schools Hillsboro (6th in last year WJ tourny) & East Clinton among those schools participanting.
Another strong holiday tournament is the Bishop Ready Holiday Classic which includes a total of 18 schools including London & Madison Plains.
