The Clinton Massie Falcons wrapped up the 2012 football season as the Division 4 state champions after a 46-36 win over St. Clairsville Friday afternoon at Canton Fawcett Stadium.
Twice, the #4 rank Falcons held 19 point leads only to see the #7 rank Red Devils cut the deficit to 3 points late in the contest.
Massie who rushed for 408 of their 472 total yards were led by All Ohio Bayle Wolfe who scored 5 TDs (4 rushing including game clincher with 1:46 left in the gamer to make it 46-36 & caught a 36 yard TD catch from Tyler Uethrecht in the 2nd period. He finished with 220 yards rushing.
Wyatt Running added 101 yards rushing & a TD & Uehtrecht with 78 yards rushing also rushed in for a score.
St. Clairsville scored through the air several times including late in the game on a 4th & 13 on a 46 yard pass from Matt Kinnich to Jarrid Marhefta. Marhefta caught 9 passes for 272 yards in the contest & the Red Devils had an impressive 516 yards in total offense.
Massie with the win adds to their season record points in a single season going over the 800 points for the season smashing the old record by almost 100 points.
Massie finishes at (15-0) and state champs.
