The Clinton-Massie Falcons return to playoff football Friday night traveling to Centerville High School to meet the Milton-Union Bulldogs in the Region 16 championship game.
The winner will move on to the Division 4 State Semi-finals, where Clinton-Massie's season ended last year.
Clinton-Massie, ranked 4th in the state & #1 seed in Region 16 is led by the running duo of Bayle Wolf (1,639 yards & 29 TDs) & Wyatt Running (1,507 yards & 27 TDs).
Both were named to the AP Southwest District team this week with Wolf on the 1st team & Running on the 2nd team.
Five other teammates were named- including Trent Smart as the D4 Defensive Player of the Year, Kicker Cullum Jones 1st team, offensive lineman Jake Weaver 1st team & on 2nd team defense linebacker Kelson Gauden & lineman Duane Sowers.
C-M played Milton-Union back in the 2nd round in 2007 playoffs & defeated them 18-14.
The Bulldogs are making their 6th appearance in the playoffs since 2002. They are (5-5) in the playoffs, losing in 2006 in the Region 14 regional finals.
The team is from Miami County & the town of West Milton & is led by senior runners Tyler Brown with 1,412 yards & 26TDs. The 220 pound fullback was honorable mention in the SW District voting.
Also rushing attack features David Karns (909 yards & 12 TDs) & Joe Thoele (710 yards-missed 3 games).
Punter Nick Fields was named 1st team but he's just as impressive as a place kicker as well & has hit three field goals from 25, 28 & 37 yards.
Lines are anchored by 1st team All District Wesley Martin-offense & Jesse Simpson on defense.
The teams have one common opponent & that's Waynesville. Milton-Union beat them in week # 9 by a 37-34 score & Massie beat them 39-14 in week 2.
