Like many local law enforcement agencies, the Fayette County Sheriff is even busier than usual with the COVID-19 emergency. Sheriff Vernon Stanforth says his office is in contact everyday with members of the county Emergency Management Command Center, along with local government officials and the hospital.
Fayette County confirmed its first COVID-19 case, Tuesday evening.
The Fayette County Sheriff says years of planning for large emergencies is paying off in the current COVID-19 outbreak. Sheriff Vernon Stanforth says one local example is a decision years ago to go to Zerker software that allows deputies to function more out of their cruisers, which in turn allows them to maintain "social distancing" during the pandemic.
Stanforth believes most businesses in Washington Court House and the county are obeying the state's Stay at Home order and closing non-essential business, and wants to see it remain that way until that order is lifted by the state.
