FCMH Asks Fayette Commissioners for OK To Stay Independent

The Board of Trustees for Fayette County Memorial Hospital is asking the county commissioners to support the hospital’s financing efforts for future improvements.

.

The six-member board recently passed the resolution in an effort to maintain the hospital’s status as a county-owned entity, not interested in selling the hospital to another organization. The Board is asking the Commissioners to approve financing options obtained by the hospital.

.

The hospital does not require direct financial support from the county, but it does need the approval of the Commissioners to obtain financing. As the ultimate owners of the hospital, the Commissioners would have to authorize and co-sign any financing the hospital secures.

.

The resolution comes as the result of the Board’s need to address the advancing age of the hospital’s operating rooms, built in the 1950s.
