Public Comment Wanted in State Route 73 Project

The Ohio Department of Transportation’s Environmental Office is seeking public input for a minor realignment and safety improvement project on State Route 73 in Highland County.

-

The proposed project is to realign the intersection of S.R. 73 and County Road 7 (Mad River Road) at their junction, located approximately one-half mile east of the village of New Vienna and the Clinton County line, by relocating Mad River Road approximately 300 feet south to eliminate the skewed intersection and constructing a right-turn lane from S.R. 73 to Mad River Road.

-

The project will require approximately 2.11 acres of permanent right of way and 0.172 acres of temporary right of way; however, no homes or businesses will be removed as a result of construction. Currently, a contract is anticipated to be awarded in the summer of 2020, and short-term or temporary closure of either route may be possible during some phases of construction.
