High School Student in Critical Condition After Crash

A Miami Trace High School student was critically injured in a one-vehicle crash Thursday evening. 

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says the crash was reported at 8:15 p.m. in the 8000 block of Washington-New Martinsburg Road in southeast Fayette County. 

18-year-old Jacob E. Seyfang of Leesburg was southbound in a 2007 Honda Civic on Washington-New Martinsburg Road when it traveled off the left side of the roadway before colliding with a tree, continuing across the roadway and off the right side.

Seyfang was trapped inside and was extricated by members of the Concord-Green Township Fire Department.  

He was treated at the scene and airlifted by Med-Flight to a Columbus area trauma center where he remains in critical condition. 

Also assisting at the scene were members of the Highland County Paint Creek Township Fire Department and the Sheriff’s Rescue Unit.  

The cause of the crash is not known and the crash remains under investigation.
