NASA Developing Spacesuits With Built-In Toilets

In the hopes of conducting longer missions, NASA is now developing spacesuits with built-in toilets.

The spacesuits the astronauts currently use include absorbency undergarments -- which are pretty much adult diapers -- that are used only in an emergency. These suits are designed to only be used for up to 10 hours.

NASA hopes astronauts will be able to use the new suits for six days straight. That means astronauts must be able to eat, drink, breathe, pee and poop in the suits.

The engineers have had good luck so far designing the suits for men. But, because the plumbing below the belt is different with women, they're having a hard time designing the built-in toilet feature for female astronauts. (Space)
