Martha L. Cottrill, 92, of Frankfort, died peacefully Friday, December 15, 2017 after an extended illness. She was born March 28, 1925 in Ross County, the daughter of the late Thomas and Flossie Graves Hill. On June 20, 1943 she married Ernest R. Cottrill who preceded her in death on November 17, 1993.
Surviving are daughters, Katherine (Bruce) Mees, Pamela (Roger) Wilburn, and sons, Ernest Cottrill, Paul (Vivian) Cottrill, and Gregory Cottrill. She was also survived by her loving caregiver Terry Tripp, who she loved and thought of as a daughter. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Teresa (Joe) Brown, Lynne Seymour, Eric (Ashley) Wilburn, Emily (Jason) Grooms, Erin (Brady) Ratzlaff, Heidi Cottrill, Brittany Cottrill, and Andrew Cottrill, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Roy (Faye) Hill. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Oather and Owen Hill, sister, Evelyn Montgomery, and grandson, David Lane.
Martha was a 1943 graduate of Frankfort High School. She retired from Adena Local Schools where she worked as a teacher’s aide, and was a member of the Frankfort Presbyterian Church and the Chillicothe Chapter 419 Order of Eastern Star.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL home, with Todd Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends are invited to visit with the Cottrill family at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Martha’s memory be made to Adena Hospice, 2077 Western Ave, Chillicothe OH 45601 or Frankfort Presbyterian Church, PO Box 356, Frankfort OH 45628.
