Fayette Humane Society 'Pets for Vets' Adoption Event

While there are many who will be honoring our nations Vets during Veterans Day this Saturday, The Fayette Regional Humane Society will have their own special way of honoring them. The Humane Society is once again having a ‘Pets for Vets Adoption Special’ this Saturday, November 11 from 8 a.m. to 1p.m. Cats and kittens will be available for adoption at no cost for those who bring a military I.D.  The Pets for Vets Special Adoption is being sponsored by Beford Ford who has committed to paying for the adoption fees.

“We were involved with Pets for Vets adoption events in the tristate area of West Virginia with a humane society there, and wanted to do it here.” said Mark Beford, owner “Connie (co-owner) and I both have fathers who were veterans and recipients of purple hearts so we have always been involved with helping veterans. We knew many of them who lived alone and orphaned pets can become their companion.”

According to the nation-wide Pets for Vets Program, companion animals can be the life-saving therapy or friend that many returning service men and women need. Medical studies have shown that companion animals significantly improve mental and physical health, including reducing stress, depression and anxiety, symptoms experienced by many serving in the military.

“This type of event is growing with animal shelters across the country and our staff is excited to have this special adoption to honor our veterans.” said Outreach Director Brad Adams. “We are thankful for businesses like Beford Ford who want to partner with us to help animals.”

The Humane Society is happy to once again show their appreciation to the men and women who have protected our country by offering them the love of a forever furry friend. The adoption center is located at 153 S. Main St, Ste. 3 in downtown Washington C.H. They will be open from 8 AM to 1 PM.

Beford Ford is also honoring veterans through November 18th by offering oil changes for a reduced cost of $21.95. Mark Beford invites veterans to stop by this Friday for free coffee and donuts.
