Helen Marie Knepper Schilling

Helen Marie Knepper Schilling, age 93, of Wilmington, OH passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, September 2, 2017 at the Alois Alzheimer Center in Cincinnati, OH.  The family is grateful for the loving care she received in her four years at the Center, and for the compassionate end-of-life care given by Hospice of Southwest Ohio.

Helen was born December 17, 1923 in Dayton, OH, daughter of Francis (Frank) Bernard & Margaret Helen Doyle Knepper.  She married Wilmington attorney George Lewis Schilling, Jr.  November 26, 1953. George died February 19, 2009.

Helen’s positive outlook made her gentle, kind, and simply a beautiful human being.  She found gratitude daily and experienced joy regardless of circumstances. She was an inspiring role model.

A wife and mother, Helen also worked as a Registered Dietician.  She moved to Wilmington in 1951 when Clinton Memorial Hospital was brand new to serve as the first dietician.  Later she was dietician for Head Start and The Clinton County Health Department.

She was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church, volunteered hundreds of community-service hours, and enjoyed retirement in the Cape May community.  Even in her final days Helen enriched those around her with laughter, wisdom, and a firm belief God works out everything.

Surviving are her sons Doyle (Linda) Schilling of Granville, OH, & Brian (Ines) Schilling of Cincinnati, OH; daughter Ann (David) Wasser of Baltimore, MD; grandsons Chris (Lindsay) Schilling of Granville, OH, & Evan Wasser of Baltimore, MD; great-grandsons Ben, Brad, Zack & Zane Schilling of Granville, OH; niece Becky Miars of Cincinnati, OH; nephew Mark (Rita) Miars of Wilmington, OH.
