Michael Uhl Hays

Michael Uhl Hays, 69, of Greenfield, died unexpectedly at 9:03 a.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Adena Greenfield Area Medical Center. He was born on September 19, 1947 in Columbus, the son of the late Loren R. “Red” and Margaret Elizabeth Uhl  Hays.

Mike is survived by three sister; Ann Marie (Ron) Gunderman of Greenfield, Carolyn ( Heinz) Knackstedt of Centerville, Patty Hays of Gallipolis,one brother; Patrick (Elaine) Hays of Greenfield,  his nieces and nephews; Theresa (Russ) Staten, Jeff (Connie) Hadley, Brent (Jacque) Knackstedt, Beth (Dave) Taschuk, Angela (Brian) Preston, Katie (Mark) Paugh and Bradley (Amanda) Hays. He is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and his beloved Schnauzer, Lucky.

Mike was a 1965 graduate of the Edward Lee McClain High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the US Army. He was Chief of Radiology at Adena Greenfield Medical Center for many years.  Mike was a member of St. Benignus Catholic Church of Greenfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at St. Benignus Catholic Church with Father Mike Paraniuk as celebrant.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.  Friends may visit with the Hays family on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church. Rosary will be prayed at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benignus Catholic Church, PO Box 399, Greenfield, OH 45123.
