CHARLES DEE “BUCKY” SMITH, age 84, of Washington CH, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 1:17 p.m. at Court House Manor.
He was born on December 15, 1932 in Pickaway County to Paul Dana and Lois Nell Cox Smith. He was a 1951 graduate of Washington High School and had also attended The Ohio State University where he majored in Business. Charles proudly served his country in the US Army and played the saxophone in the US Army Band. He had retired from Coyle Music in Columbus after 32 years of service. He had been a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Washington CH. He enjoyed music, playing tennis, and being with his family and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Donnie Wightman.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Mae Grieves Smith, whom he married on March 3, 1966; son, Joey (Angela) Smith; grandchildren, Sinjin and Janson Smith; brother, Ronnie Smith; brothers and sisters-in-law; Nancy Wightman, Dianna (George) Chaney, and Bill Ruth; and cousins, Mary Cay West, and Terri (Joe) Murphy. Also surviving are several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
In keeping with Charles’s wishes, his body will be donated to The Ohio State University for the advancement of science.
