Harold Keith Zimmerman

HAROLD KEITH ZIMMERMAN, age 91, of Washington CH, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 1:32 p.m.

He was born on December 16, 1925 in Fayette County to Harold Ward and Nellie Letitia Haigler Zimmerman. Keith was a 1943 graduate of Jeffersonville High School. He spent most of his life farming on his family’s farm.  He retired in 1990 and he then enjoyed his second career as a seed dealer. He had attended both the Jeffersonville and New Holland Church of Christ where he had been an active member. He had served as a Sunday School teacher, church board member, Elder, supported the missions, and went to Haiti on a missions trip in 2000. He was most recently a member at the Crossroads Christian Church in Washington CH. Keith was also a member of the Fayette County Grange, the Franklin Bridge Club, the Farm Bureau, and he was always a strong supporter of the Miami Trace school district where he had participated in several campaign levies. He enjoyed farming, playing cards, following the Cincinnati Reds, being with his family, grandchildren, and friends, and also imparting his words of wisdom along the way to everyone who knew him.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife and mother of his children, Lorita LaVerne Tway Zimmerman, whom he married on October 9, 1949; his beloved second wife, Nellie Doyle Zimmerman, whom he married on March 24, 2001; infant son in 1952; and siblings, Robert Zimmerman, Edwin Zimmerman, and Kermit Zimmerman.

Survivors include his children, Sherry (Norman) Thomas of Washington CH, Sandra Kay (David) Creamer of Xenia, and Suzanne (Howard) Arthur of Jamestown; step-children, Ronnie (Sherry) Campbell, Diane (Melvin) Dawson, and Alan (Tina) Campbell; grandchildren, David (Sue) Thomas of Washington CH, Kristi (Chris) Paine of Broadlands, VA, Becky (Luke) Schulte of Cedarville, Andrea (Gabe) Schlappi of Cumming, GA, Jennifer (Matthew) Laird of Springfield, Stephanie (Matthew) Caraway of Xenia, Jessica (Adam) Josefczyk of Centerville, Matthew (Kassidy) Wisecup of Jamestown, Brittany Wisecup of Grayson, KY, Lauren (Luke) Swaim of Xenia, Kathleen (Zach) Zook of Atlanta, GA, and Lillian Arthur of Batavia; great-grandchildren, Devan and Delaney Thomas, Mitchell and Maci Creamer, Clare Paine, Ellie, Ben, and Ana Schulte, Annabel, Jackson, and Bennett Schlappi, Isabella, Aleacia, Sophia, and Mila Laird, Elizabeth, Catherine, Caroline, and Charlotte Caraway, Maylee and Jonah Keith Wisecup; and sisters-in-law, Avanell Zimmerman, and Shirley Zimmerman; and special friend and caregiver, Marilyn Smith. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crossroads Christian Church with Todd Maurer officiating with burial to follow at the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church on Thursday evening from 3-8:00 p.m. and again Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
