Hilda Ray Harrop

HILDA RAY HARROP, age 65, of Bloomingburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 9:37 a.m. at the Mount Carmel West Hospital.

   She was born on August 14, 1951 in Paducah, Kentucky to the late James and Wilma Jacobs Durrham. She was a 1969 graduate of Wurtland High School, and had also attended the University of Kentucky. She retired after 26 years of service as a correctional officer at the London Correctional Institute. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, doing mechanical work on cars, riding motorcycles, and loved going to Tennessee with her husband.

   Survivors include her husband, Jeff Harrop, whom she married on September 19, 1986; children, Mike (Mindy) Callahan, Chris (Jessica) Callahan, and Blane (Cassie) Harrop; grandchildren, Madisyn, Mcale, and Tristan; siblings, Pam (Kelly) Meridith, and Ken (Sue) Durrham; in-laws, Lorena (Bruce) Stolsenberg, Jim (Sandy) Harrop, and Dixie (Tom) Knight; and her loving canine companion, Harley Low Rider. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

   The Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Gray Marshall officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
