Barbara Ann Gardner

Barbara Ann Gardner, age 77, formerly of Washington CH, passed from this life to her eternal home on March 8, 2017, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mt Vernon, Ohio.

She was born on February 19, 1940 in Madison County, Ohio to the late Howard Omer and Alice Louisa Stonerock Martindale. She worked early on as a waitress at the Corner Café in WCH, where she met James Gardner when he stopped in for a cup of coffee. She and James would eventually marry on May 22, 1960 and started a family in 1962. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother who devoted her life to raising her children. She was a member of the Washington Ave. House of Prayer prior to her illness. Barbara enjoyed attending Church and was a dedicated reader of God’s word. She will be remembered as a good and faithful servant of the Lord.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, on May 25, 1970; daughters, Lori Ann Bristow and Jennifer Renee Zirkle; sisters, Shirley Rose Wysong and Opal JoAnn Martindale; and two grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Beth Ellen (Randall) Burge of WCH, Andy Gardner of WCH, Susan Jane (Jeremy) Jones of Clarksburg and Deborah JoAnn (Ed) DeLong of Mt. Vernon; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and many friends.

A funeral service is planned on Saturday March 11, 2017 at 1pm at the Roberts Funeral Home in WCH, with Pastor Tom Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Highlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11am until the time of service.
