Lady Panthers Win SCOL Title

The Miami Trace Lady Panthers won the outright SCOL Title Saturday with a victory over Washington Court House 51-42.

Washington Court House came out strong to start the game, more specifically Hannah Haithcock as she scored 8 of her teams first 10  points but had to go to the bench with foul trouble and sat the majority of the first half. The Lady Blue Lions led after the first quarter 14-12. That would be the only quarter they would hold the lead. Miami Trace held Washington to just 2 second quarter points and took the lead at the 5:14 mark of the second period. Miami Trace closed out the second going on an 8 point run to take a 25-16 halftime lead on a last second layup by Junior Tanner Bryant.

Miami Trace kept their foot on the gas scoring 19 third quarter points but the Blue Lions held close scoring 16 of their own to close out the quarter 44-32 in favor of Trace. The Panthers pulled out of their full court pressure and dropped back into a 2-3 zone and the Blue Lions Shawna Conger was able to knock down back to back three's to cut into the lead.

It was a battle all the way for both teams but the Panthers were able to hang on for the victory and win the SCOL Title.

Miami Trace (14-1/17-4) finished the night going 17-40 for 43% shooting including 3-13 from behind the arc and were 12-15 from the free throw line. They committed 19 turnovers. Tanner Bryant led the way scoring 23 points but the Panthers had a balanced attack as four other players added 7 points.
