Michael Lane Prickett

Michael Lane Prickett, 71, of New Vienna, Ohio came to the end of life’s journey Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at his home.  His wife, Shirley Haynes Prickett, survives.  They were married June 18, 1971 in Washington C.H., Ohio, 45 years ago.  Mr. Prickett was born December 10, 1945, Hillsboro, Ohio, son of the late Harold Lane Prickett Jr. and Kyda Delores Yarger Prickett.  He was a 1964 graduate of New Vienna High School.  He held a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in education from The Ohio State University.  He also had a heating and air conditioning certification from Rets Technical School and an aviation A&P license.

Mr. Prickett was an industrial technology teacher at both White Oak High School in Mowrystown, Ohio and Washington Middle School in Washington C.H., Ohio for many years.  He retired from teaching in 2009.  He enjoyed flying, gardening, cooking, reading and the outdoors along with his love of animals especially dogs.  He served in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Prickett is survived by three brothers, Stephen Prickett of New Vienna, Ohio, Douglas (Judy) Prickett of Washington C.H., Ohio, and Gregory (Gladys) Prickett of Power, Montana; a sister, Deborah Brock of Hillsboro, Ohio; two aunts; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.  In addition to his parents, a sister, Tonya Prickett, is preceded in death.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, February 13, 2017 at Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, OH.  Friends may call from 1:30 PM – 2:00 PM, Monday, February 13, 2017 at Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
