The Washington CH Blue Lions claimed a volleyball sectional championship Saturday, winning a five-set thriler over Fairfield Union.
The Blue Lions, who have lost only two matches all season, won the first two sets Saturday 25-14, 25-18, then dropped the next two 11-25, 18-25, forcing a fifth set. That was nip-and-tuck, with WCH pulling it out 15-13 for the title.
Washington now advances to the District Semis at Southeastern High School, where they meet Unioto Wednesday in the second match to be played that evening.
Sheridan plays Athens in the 6pm semifinal, followed by WCH and Unioto. Sheridan advanced to the district with a victory over Miami Trace, while Athens beat Zane Trace.
