The McClain Lady Tigers overcame a 7-0 start by Hillsboro & after trailing 11-7 after the first period, outscored their Highland County rivals by a 19-10 margin in the 2nd period to take a 26-21 halftime lead.
McClain expanded the lead to as much as 18 points in the 3rd quarter before the Lady Indians (10-11 overall/3-8 SCOL) pulled to with 11 points & trailed after the 3rd period by a 43-32 deficit.
Hillsboro went on a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to 7 points (43-36) in the first 2 minutes of the final quarter but couldn't get any closer in the final 6 minutes of the game.
McClain (12-6 overall/7-4 SCOL) was led by Shania Massie with 34 points (9 of 14 from the charity stripe) which is a new career high after having games of 32 (December 28th vs. Leesburg Fairfield) & 33 (January 15th vs. East Clinton).
Tara Karnes chipped in 12 points & 7 rebounds & 4 block shots.
Hillsboro was led by Madison Snyder with 14 points, Kirsten Jullierat 12 & Kaylynn Bell added 10 points.
