SR. DIVISION (5th & 6th graders)
VIPERS 20, COLTS 8
Both teams were coming off opening season wins. The Vipers using Jamie McCane’s two touchdown runs in the second quarter was enough to clinch the team’s second win of the season.
McCane scored early in the second quarter after the Vipers intercepted a Storm Duffy pass, which set up a four play 31-yard drive. McCane added the game winner with less than a minute left in the first half on a 2-yard TD run. A Kyler Matthews PAT run made it 13-0 at the half. The Vipers scored again at the mark in the final quarter on a Caden Sweitzer 11-yard run. Matthews again added the PAT conversion making it 20-0.
The Colts scored quickly on the next series when Storm Duffy hit Alec Ackley on a 60-yard pass play with left in the contest. Duffy hit Shane Seymore on a 2-point conversion pass.
The Vipers were led by McCane with 14 carries for 133 yards and 2 scores. Defensively, Jerome Mack had an interception.
The Colts were led by Chase Sluder with 19 yards rushing. They were held to only 16 offensive plays in the contest. The Vipers, meanwhile, ran off 39 offensive plays.
RAZORS 8, LONGHORNS 6
Brandon Cubbage, of the Razors, scored with 17 seconds left in the game and Tyris Virts hit Bryce Downey on a 2-point conversion pass to clinch the win. The Longhorns had scored earlier on a Brice Cartwright 57-yard TD run with about 3.5 minutes left in the second quarter.
Cubbage had 15 carries for 36 yards. Virts was 2-of-5 in passing for 38 yards.
For the Longhorns, Cartwright had 38 yards rushing to lead the team.
Both teams committed two turnovers.
JR. DIVISION (3rd & 4th Graders)
The Black Panthers got 2 second half touchdowns and held off a late White Lions charge to win 28-26.
The Blue Lions rolled over the Gold Panthers, 60-6.
